How do we make sustainable choices easier while grocery shopping?

Challenge

In partnership with Club Leaf, we set out to help Jumbo nudge customers toward more sustainable shopping without undermining the low prices the brand is known for. People want to choose better but get lost in labels, advice and endless alternatives. With too many options, not choosing becomes the easiest choice.

Insight

Shoppers do not need a lecture. They need a clear next step at the moment of decision. Two simple options beat a maze of badges and jargon.

Idea

Add Jumbo’s Sustainable Alternatives to the app. On every product page, show two swaps side by side. One with the lowest environmental impact. One that is budget friendly. Clear, comparable and easy to act on.

Execution

We built a lightweight module in the Jumbo app that surfaces these two picks per product, with plain language, prices and impact indicators. Less noise, more direction. It helps customers choose better without preaching or pushing, and it fits Jumbo’s promise: better every day, for everyone.
